I have grown up all my life living in one of most scorching climates in the world. Phoenix AZ. I left for a time after finishing high school to serve a full time 2 year mission. And guess where? Another hot climate Houston Texas. After 21 years of having a hot Christmas and spending a lot of time in shorts outside I had the opportunity to live in an area colder. A LOT colder. Rexburg, Idaho. After 14 weeks of my first semester I about six of them with snow. I have been reminded something really important about this holiday season. Christmas isn't about Santa, or movies, or snowmans. Its about spending time with those that you love and those that love you. Its about coming together and remembering Jesus Christ and his humble birth and how his life can shape our future if we apply the great gift that he has to offer, the atonement.
As this first semester comes to an end and I study for finals for the next few days I'd like to reflect on some of the simple yet impacting blessings I have received in my life. My family, the great friends and memories, the 2 year mission (which was difficult at times but so rewarding!), and the events that has led me to come to this great University Brigham Young University Idaho.
Before this Christmas I issue myself a challenge, to cherish the moments I have with my family, to reach out and lift someone else's day a little bit and always remember the true meaning of Christmas.
